Raised in New Hampshire, Katie has intermittently lived and worked in Bar Harbor, Maine for the last seventeen years. A pretty good waitress in the summer, she makes art and teaches in the winter. She has trained in fine arts at College of the Atlantic, where she is also a member of the adjunct faculty as a teacher of Buddhist Philosophy. She holds a Master of Arts in Eastern Classics with a focus in Sanskrit from St. John's College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and she is deeply influenced by a year spent teaching in Kyoto, Japan.

Katie approaches all art with earnest curiosity and respect for spontaneity, and her work exhibits themes of representation/abstraction and wabi-sabi. While she works in an array of media-- digital, graphite, charcoal, ink, watercolor, gouache and oil paints-- Katie has been focusing on tattoo for the last two years. She feels challenged, humbled, and honored to work so intimately with others, and art-wise, it's the most fun she's ever had.
